Nvidia brings AMD up a Notch

The Inquirer reports that Sun has brought AMD up a notch in the datacenter with help from Nvidia.

"That is the key, Sun blessing Nvidia's solution. If you ask any vendor if its chips are reliable and data centre class, they will all tell you yes, most with a straight face. What really matters is if an unbiased third party says yes, and puts its money where its mouth is. Sun did both, and that is very significant. Keep an eye on Nvidia in this space, there is undoubtedly more to come."

 

AMD Expects Japanese Market Improvements Next Year

Reuters reports that AMD expects the Japanese market to be more favorible to them next year thanks to thanks to government intervention in regards to Intel's sales practices.

"The reality is that a lot of actions of our competitor were on an annual basis, so we have not seen any significant change. We expect when the Japanese fiscal year ends it is going to be a different environment for Japanese companies and our competitor, and that then there will be significant changes to the environment in the next fiscal year," Uze said at the Reuters Asia Technology and Telecoms Summit in Tokyo."
