The Mutimedia Center also provides users with the option of playing their audio and video files using their suite of software. Standard controls are available but video formats will benefit from the advanced options such as THRUVIEW™.

FM Radio

As mentioned earlier, the AIW 9600XT is the second card to offer a FM tuner. Therefore, it's to be expected that the Multimedia Center offer you the ability to enjoy this addition to the card. With a frequency range of 75.9MHz to 108.0 MHz, you'll be able to tune into your favorite radio station without any problem. The Multimedia center allows you to scan through the frequency range and pick up all the stations within that range. With that, you can pre-set 10 of your favorite stations on quick access buttons.

However, that's not the only thing that the Multimedia Center offers with the FM player. You also have FM on Demand. Much like TV on Demand, you can pause radio shows, record them, and even save your favorite songs you hear in MP3 format.

You can even pre-program the FM player to turn on at specific times, like when your favorite radio show comes on. This can also be used as an alarm clock if your computer is conveniently located in your bedroom.

TV On Your Desktop

The television option in the Multimedia Center enhances your experience by integrating functions included with the Remote Wonder II and the Gemstar Guide+™. You can sit back and enjoy some channel surfing by sifting through the mounds of television channels by even type, actor name or show title with just a flick of the remote.

You can also turn your computer into your own personal personal video recorder (PVR) by recording your shows directly to your hard drive. An advanced closed captioning system allows you to creat HotWords™, which in essence is a list of words to seek inside closed caption streams.

The TV player also comes integrated with THRUVIEW™ allowing you to enjoy your television program while surfing the net or doing productive work on your desktop. This function is identical to the one found with the DVD player.
