Overclocking
Sadly I was only able to get the system stable up to 175.4 FSB, which translates to roughly 2367.88MHz.I might have been able to get a higher clock speed had I unlocked the processor. This isn’t very impressive considering it’s only a 5% increase in FSB.However, the processor I am currently using near the limitations of the Thoroughbred B core and may not be able to gain higher clock speeds.
Conclusion
Leadtek really did a number on this board, even though the chipset change didn’t really affect the performance of this board. Looking at the scores from both A7N8X Deluxe and the K7NCR18D-ProII, the numbers don’t show any type of marked improvement, and there really shouldn’t be since the nForce2 Ultra400 chipset is only the nForce2 with 400MHz support. The only thing that makes this board worthwhile is the added features such as SATA, optical out, the dual 10/100 LAN ports, etc. Therefore, this board is a definite upgrade option for those who have anything less than a KT333. It’s not the cheapest board on the market, but well worth the money with all these features.
Pros:
- Tons of added features
- Multiplier option in BIOS
- 400MHz support
Cons:
- Board layout needs to be rethought
- Not much of an improvement in performance from nForce2
Final Score: 85%
