First Impressions
The size of this box isn’t what I expected for a power supply. The power supplies I’m used to usually come in boxes twice as big, but size isn’t all that matters now is it. I knew this power supply was blue, but when I opened the box, I wasn’t expecting the PSU to be this blue. The chrome finish on the power supply was like a blue mirror reflecting my face back at me.
I was, however, disappointed in not being able to find 4 mounting screws for the power supply. This will prove to be a minor inconvenience for most, but a head ache for some. It would have been nice if they were provided, but most computer cases come with enough spare screws that it shouldn’t hinder most of you from mounting this unit into your case.
The Reactor comes equipped with your standard ATX main power connector, the auxiliary power connector, the +12V power connector, 7 4-pin molex power connectors, 2 floppy drive connectors and 3 SATA power connectors.
Installing the Reactor is a cinch much like any other power supplies: 4 screws out, 4 screws in, plug the ends to where they go at you’re set. It does look kind of funny in my case though. More available colors for the Reactor would also be nice to have.
Powering on the computer, the lights from the Reactor shone brightly, as you would expect from the LED fans imbedded into the unit. The lights are bright and should fit well if you have any sort of cathode ray tubes or additional lighting in your case, especially if you have an acrylic case. One thing that takes away from its beauty however is the fact that only the main ATX power connector is sheathed. Some shrink wrapping on the other cables would have added to the modded look of the power supply. But the whole point of modding is to do it yourself right?
